Smaller but smarter way to "Touch" your heart

July 2008, Taipei, Taiwan: HTC Touch Series: all the bells and whistles with only half the pocket space needed.

The realization of making advance technology so accessible, mobile and delightful to consumers has further drawn huge worldwide attention on the advanced, high tech instruments known as the Smartphone, or converged device, which in fact is one of the fastest growing segments of the technology industry that enjoy a 60% year-on-year growth.

Envisioning potential of this promising market, the Taiwan based company High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC), ranked No. 2 in the annual ranking of Asia's best-performing companies in 2007 and No. 3 among global IT companies in 2006 by Business Week, launched its latest model of the Touch Series, Touch Diamond, offering consumers with devices equipped with all the bells and whistles but only half the pocket space needed, and yet with a even more friendly user interface.

"We are pleased to have secured the bridge financing which will enable the Company to launch an additional Phase II trial to demonstrate the proof of concept of DermaVir Patch in reducing the viral load in HIV positive individuals" said Dr. Julianna Lisziewicz, President and CEO of Genetic Immunity. "We are also very excited to be working with such a well regarded and respected firm as Rodman & Renshaw to assist the Company to develop the financial strategies for completing our clinical trials and bringing DermaVir Patch to the market."

According to Canalys, the shipments of converged devices (Smartphones and wireless handhelds) rose 60% to hit 115 million units in 2007, with APAC is the largest region by volume, trailing by EMEA. These, typically high-end, devices accounted 10% of the global mobile phone markets by units in 2007.

To stay ahead of the game, the new leaders of the pack are the ones that can blend both function and style in one neat package, in particular by introducing the touch screen feature, which has changed the user experience of mobile devices forever.

"HTC started to receive serious attention by the worldwide Smartphone markets when it introduced its first Touch model last year," said John Cheng, telecommunication analyst of IDC. "The latest Touch line model, HTC Touch Diamond, is truly a flagship phone that embodies all advanced technology but in a rather compact size".

The Touch Diamond has been touted by many tech reporters and bloggers as an "iPhone killer" and as the next level of media intensive Smartphones, particularly for its slimmer and more compact size than iPhone, as well as sharper screen definition. With the aptly named Touch Dimond, the phone is equipped with advanced touch interface known as TouchFLOW 3D; a unique 3D touch interface that organizes different facets of the available functions in a neat, easy to use, and aesthetically pleasing system.

he Touch Diamond, empowered by High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), allows users to browse the internet at nine times the speed of 3G while a 3 megapixel camera allows the device to capture moments in crystal clear quality while a front camera made it possible to not only hear loved ones but see them as well.

Furthermore, the Touch Diamond also includes a customized new, HTC-developed, YouTube application for watching video content as well as utilizing Google Maps for mapping the traffic data while on the go.

Other Touch line models

Building on the success of the original Touch in both Europe and Asia last year, HTC released the next stage of the Touch Series evolution with the award winning Touch Cruise, the world's first 3.5G GPS Touch phone, in early 2008.

Being as one of the 8 products that recently won top awards at the Taiwan Excellence Awards, the Touch Cruise blew away its competition with its offerings of elegance, cutting edge technology and HSDPA connecting capability.

GPS powered by Tom Tom navigation program allows the Touch Cruise to live up to its name, while its 2.8 inch touch screen truly makes the Touch Cruise not just a phone but a multimedia device as well.

"HTC has skillfully incorporated one of the hottest features, navigation system, while offering faster network connection capability," said Cheng.

The Touch Pro, another heavyweight product of the Touch line, is HTC's answer to RIM's Blackberry. Armed with the same eye catching 3-D interface of the Diamond and the Cruise, the Pro offers professionals a full slide out keyboard for typing long emails or editing word files and offering a second camera for video conferencing allowing an individual to be in the conference room from anywhere in the world.

Utilizing the same fast speed capabilities as the Diamond, the Pro enables the professional to carry on in their business life in both efficiency and style, and yet with solid data transferring security.

"One particular thing that also makes HTC successful is the customized capabilities of its products that can meet the needs of various industry in terms of data security," said Cheng. "This flexibility could make huge difference when it comes to select the most appropriate device for the entire company."

In addition, the Operating System of all HTC Touch line products is Windows, which could be another advantage for HTC, given most consumers are familiar with the platform, added Cheng.
